Hilary has a Ph.D. in Environmental Studies from Antioch University New England, an M.Phil in International Peace Studies from the Irish School of Ecumenics at Trinity College Dublin, and a B.A. in Political Science with a Global Studies concentration from the University of Delaware. She has a Certificate in Mediation from Mediation Northern Ireland--the chief negotiating organization for the Good Friday Agreement in Belfast--and a Certificate in Conciliation from the UN-ILO.

Hilary's doctoral research explored intentional food practices and journeys of healing, consciousness and decolonization in Nassau, The Bahamas. Aligned with her theoretical framework, she created a spoken word version that weaves in and out of various languages and dialects and created an installation and temporary dining club for the National Art Gallery of The Bahamas' bi-annual National Exhibition in 2016.

Hilary has 20 years of experience in grassroots social and environmental justice activism, non-profits and community service, health care, creative and intuitive practice, faith-based organizations, inter-faith dialogue, mediation and counseling people in crisis, holistic health, food system sustainability and food production. She has worked in New England, the Hudson Valley, the Philadelphia area, Ireland, Miami, Mississippi, Southern California, and The Bahamas to create improved education and youth justice; reduction in poverty and homelessness; environmental health and community health in underserved communities; children's health; food justice and food sovereignty; sustainable economies; and peace and nonviolence.

She loves warm humid days, the Moon, cooking, bright colors, creating, political philosophy, watching people and plants grow, dancing, the Ocean, and anything with EXTRA flavor. If she could BE any flavor of ice cream, she would be Salted Caramel, because when you first look at it, you think it's Vanilla, but once you taste it, you find out it's a little salty and lusciously sweet.
